PLEASE VISIT MY COMPLETE WIG TUTORIAL
Description
Took me about 20 hours to make over the course of the past three weeks (I had to wait a few days for things to completely dry).
The wig is made from Lulu Base in Olive from Arda as well as one long weft in Olive from Arda.
I cut out 34 pieces of 1/2" high density foam, spray painted them Hunter Green and glued wefts of wig hair to the tops and sides with Tacky Spray. On a few pieces, I glued wefts to the underside, however, this made them too stiff so I simply stopped putting wefts to the underside of the spikes and only covered the top and sides.
Spray painting the foam took about a day and a half because I had to wait for everything to dry completely. I used three 12 oz. (340 g) Hunter Green spray paint cans for this.
A single spike took a total of 10 minutes to glue the wefts onto the foam and after completing a section (I did the top one day, middle the next and the bottom layer the day after) I would leave the section to dry completely for 24 hours. I used 2 cans of Tacky Spray to glue on the wefts. Once all of the wefts were on the foam pieces, I LIGHTLY spray painted the pieces with one 3 oz. (85 g) Hunter Green spray paint and hand sewed each piece into the wig. I also hand sewed the crimps in the top layer together.
If I had more extensions, I probably would have double layered everything (if it didn't make it too stiff) to cover more area. When you're up close to the wig, you CAN see the foam in places - this bugs me a little bit, but what can you do? The Olive wefts were out of stock and Arda would not have them in stock until after the convention I am going to (Otakon 2012) and plus I am very low on money so I had to work with what I had!

All of the compliments I have been receiving truly mean a lot to me! I started this wig on July 7th and finished it this morning. Granted there were days I didn’t work on it because of the heat and/or because I was waiting for paint/glue to dry. Also the convention I’m wearing him to is on the 27th (I am leaving on the 26th) and I decided to cosplay as him for this con during the last week of June so I put a lot of effort in trying to make him in time, especially since I have never styled a wig like this before!
This was a huge project for me to take on - especially since the wig cost me nearly $100 in the end and I don’t have a lot of money to begin with - so I was really worried whether I’d have enough wefts or not… and then Arda was out of stock in the colour I’d need in the event I DID perchance need more wefts so there were a few days where I was going crazy.
So to know that all of my blood, sweat and tears have been poured into this… I’m glad that it has been pleasing everyone to see an Envy wig of this magnitude!
